Jamel C Campbell – Author, Educator and Consultant

Jamel C Campbell is an Early Years educator, Early Years consultant, radio and television host, storyteller and best-selling author. He has been in the Early Years and education industry for more than 20 years and although Early Years is his speciality, he has taught and supported children from 0 to 19 years.

Jamel is one of the UK’s Men in the Early Years champions/ ambassadors. He has been featured in the media due to his extensive experience and knowledge of the Early Years and quirky but effective practice. He has made keynote speeches to prestigious establishments including St Mary’s University, University of East London and Bath University to name just a few. He has written articles for his local newspaper (the Catford Chronicle) and for well-known education and Early Years resources and magazines such as Optimus Education, TES, Famly, FSF/Tapestry, EYE, Teach Early Years and Early Years well-being magazine.

Jamel has also featured as an Early Years advisor on CBeebies’ Tiny Happy People, which has been backed by the Duchess of Cambridge, and he has worked with BBC Bitesize, advising and creating different forms of content, one of which was giving transition tips to parents and professionals. He has collaborated with many well-respected EY professionals and consultants and is one of the co-founders of the Early Years Blacklist, which is a directory of EY professionals that have Afro Caribbean/ melinated heritage.

Jamel is a brilliant storyteller and has conducted sessions in local schools and partnered with renowned establishments such as Tate Britain and the Victoria and Albert Museum to tell stories and share his knowledge of Early Years and children’s literacy. He created the first Early Years Keystage 1 (Lit in Colour) list for Penguin Random House and The Runnymede Trust

 Jamel has co-authored a best-selling book with Sonia Mainstone Cotton titled, The Importance of positive relationships in the Early. Jamel’s first picture book, Olu’s Teacher: A story about starting nursery, illustrated by Lydia Mba, supports children as they transition into nursery.
