Last week, I saw more engagement in learning about black history than I’ve witnessed in my whole career as a teacher.

The killing of George Floyd, the toppling of Edward Colston’s statue and worldwide protests galvanised many into action.

Teachers have been discussing lesson ideas on Twitter and hundreds of thousands of people have signed petitions to make teaching Britain’s colonial past a compulsory part of the curriculum.
