Anti-Racist Cumbria: Do you want to write for us and get paid for it?

Anti-Racist Cumbria is looking for writers. Here’s the information:

We are looking for article and social media content writers to create anti-racist written content on our social media and website.

You will be paid £350 for a 1000-2000 word article or £150 for a 2,000 character social media post.

Our content is all about educating people and supporting them to look at the world, current affairs, culture, and history, through an anti-racist and intersectional lens.

In the past year we’ve written about the things that matter, even the unpopular and controversial topics.

White feminism. Why reverse racism is a myth. The far-right. The weaponisation of violence against women and girls. The problem with Hate Crime solutions. The genocide against the Palestinians perpetrated by Israel. Sudan. Congo. The cost of fast fashion and overconsumption. The history of Black and Brown-led protests and strikes in the UK. The legacy of Partition. Institutional racism in the police…you name it, we talked about it.

But there is so much more to talk about and we want to bring more voices in. Particularly Black and Brown voices who have lived experience of living at an intersection. Of being a Black man, or a trans Brown woman, of facing misogynoir, or racism, ableism or classism and more. This is why this opportunity is for those who are Black and Brown only.

If you want to write for us, either a 1000-2000 word article or 2,000 character social media post, please send an example of your writing alongside a content idea you would like to pitch to meg@antiracistcumbria.org

We will then get in touch to let you know if we want to progress.

If you are successful in your application, we will have an online meeting to discuss the idea and set a deadline. We typically go through 2-3 drafts before publishing and payment is after we have received your final draft (although if upfront payment is needed this can be discussed).

We can’t wait to hear from you!
