Farzana has been teaching for over 23 years, with experience in various leadership roles. She started her career in her own Primary school, a Church of England school in Dartford, Kent, before moving to a large 4-form entry diverse inner-London school in Newham, where she taught for the majority of her career. Farzana is a Fellowship member of the Chartered College of teaching and has recently completed her Masters in School Leadership with University of Buckingham through the National College of Education. Farzana wishes to empower and inspire women to lead in education through her work with ‘WomenEd’ and has held meetings with HM Chief Inspector of Education, Amanda Spielman, and other OFSTED professionals in her role as President of ‘The Muslim Teachers’ Association’.

Farzana was appointed as Headteacher at Glade Primary School, in Redbridge, in September 2019. Since then, they have successfully been through an OFSTED inspection, been accredited with The UNICEF Rights Respecting Gold Award, The EYFS Quality Mark, The Well-being Award for Schools, CPLD Quality Mark, The ArtsMark, Music Mark and Eco School- Green Flag. Farzana is currently leading her school towards the Anti-Racist School Award with Leeds Beckett University. 

As a school leader, Farzana was invited to present at the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Creating Fluent Readers conference with Jonny Walker from Otherwise Education. Together, they explored how to breathe life into words with poetry. 

Farzana is the Chair of the Strategic Board for The New Vision English Hub.

Farzana was part of the panel for International Women’s Day in collaboration with the Chartered College of Teaching and Women Ed, alongside Vivienne Porritt, Professor Dame Alison Peacock. The panellists shared stories from Women System Leaders- overcoming barriers to success.

In February 2023, Farzana was nominated for School Leadership Award in the Redbridge Education Awards. Farzana is passionate about inclusion and diversity, being an ambassador for representation.
