Aniqa Khaliq is a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London, and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She started off her career as a secondary school mathematics teacher, quickly progressing to HoD, and subsequently to university lecturer. She has gained experience of teaching within primary, secondary, FE and the HE sector throughout her career to date.

Aniqa has over 13 years experience in the field of teacher education, and her interest in teaching mathematics through open-ended and project-based activities has become the foundation of training future teachers. She has also used her position as teacher educator to actively support her trainees in becoming facilitators of learning and future leaders.

Aniqa is currently writing her first book, exploring the stigma surrounding abuse, divorce, faith and mental health issues in the South Asian community, and is using her story to help, support and inspire her students, peers and the wider community who may be struggling with similar issues. Aniqa is a mental health and wellbeing advocate, and is using her social media platforms to raise awareness of this, alongside sharing her experiences of being a muslim woman of colour in STEM and her journey through motherhood.
