There have been some significant advances in achieving race equality in
higher education in the UK since the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000. The representation of students from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME)
backgrounds attending universities has increased and universities are required to eliminate race discrimination and proactively advance race equality. Despite such advances, there is still evidence to suggest that inequalities for BME students and staff in higher education persist
