School letter template on racism in society

Decorative

A template statement on racism in society for schools to edit and share with pupils, families, staff, and other stakeholders.

Colleagues at the BAMEed Network worked in partnership with Zahara Chowdhury of School Should Be, Educate against Islamophobia, Islamophobia Awareness Month, Black Educators: Truth to Power, and Ruth Sinhal of Project FREE- Connecting Communities C.I.C to produce a template statement on racist violence for schools to edit and share with pupils, families, staff, and other stakeholders.

The letter contains content related to safeguarding duties, reporting racist incidents, detailing anti-racist actions being taken by the setting, and an invitation for community collaboration. Whilst the letter was drafted in 2024, its contents could be adapted for the current context.
