Online event: Tuesday 22 December 17:30 – 19:00
This academic year, we’re facilitating a series of courageous conversations about race. You can catch-up on previous conversations.
Ahead of each event, we’ve collected videos, research and reading to prompt reflection and we ask you to engage with these here.
The third session in our courageous conversations series, taking place on Tuesday 22 October, will be in conversation with a group of panellists with experience of curriculum design and delivery:
- Liz Pemberton has a rich background in nursery education and is Director of The Black Nursery Manager
- Ben Mearhart is Deputy Headteacher at Gordon Children’s Academy and team member at The Black Curriculum
- Domini Leong is Deputy Headteacher at Cotham School and chair of the BAMEed Bristol & SW Hub
A key part of the journey towards becoming an anti-racist institution, is to look at curriculum. Much thought goes into a school curriculum in terms of sequencing, key skills and knowledge, building towards exams and more. How do we create a curriculum that is inclusive and tells the true story of the British experience and that prepares our students to be global citizens?
The session will be a discussion between members of The BAMEed Network and the panellists, drawing on questions from the session participants online. Each session will be recorded and all ticket holders will receive the link to this after the event.
